In spite of the studio recordings and writing new songs for the upcoming full lenght album Martyr will keep performing live on stage as well. In october we will do some great shows as headliner at Havenrock festival In Deventer, as special guest
at the Metalshock festival in Hannover (Germany), at Mario's Metal meeting in Tilburg and as support for our friends Vicous Rumors at The Pit in Terneuzen. In november we will play at Azatod, De Meern (nearby our hometown Utrecht). More shows for this year will be announced soon. Please check out the shows page for location and dates.

MARTYR has finished the recordings of 5 brand new songs and will be continueing writing at least 6 more songs for recordings later this year. We are so excited. The songs will be heavier than ever before and still have that special Martyr sound. In the meantime we will also appear at some festivals now and then to not lose the spirit for our live gigs. Keep you updated.

MARTYR has confirmed their appearance on a compilation by Castaway Records (Finland) with their brand new song Circle Of 8! Release date to be announced. This compilation will be distributed to major metal magazines, webzines and festivals around Europe.

MARTYR will do a show at the Up The Hammers VI festival in Athens, Greece Next year march 11/12, 2011. MARTYR is negotiating to do some more shows during that time in the south of Europe. More info soon!

MARTYR has almost finished the recordings of 5 brand new songs and will be continueing writing at least 6 more songs for recordings late summer.
We will soon publish some small pieces of our new songs and maybe we'll play some in our upcoming shows. It's our goal to release the new album on cd and vinyl at the end of this year!!

After performing lots of live performances in Europe including 3 tours since Dec 2008, MARTYR is now back in the rehearsal room to finally start some serious writing on new material. Options for some great shows in 2010 are already available, but 2010 must also be the year that MARTYR will return with a full length album containing only new and heavy material.

Martyr did 3 great shows together with US metal legends Vicious Rumors during the kickoff of their european tour. Unfortunately Martyr couldn't find the time to support them at their gigs in Germany, Czech and Austria. Ron van der Voort did shoot some cool pics!

For the first time in our history Martyr has performed a show without our bassplayer at Rockcafe From Dusk Till Dawn in Assen last saturday. Unfortunately Toine couldn't show up for this gig. Martyr don't like to cancel. So we pumped up the volume, turned the basslevel to 10 of our guitar amps and entertained the audience. And it was great. Thanks to all our fans! Nevertheless we hope this was the first and last time we have to do a show with an incomplete band.

Although our newest album Fear The Universe just saw the day of light, MARTYR has already started writing new material for a possible new album somewhere 2010. No further details yet but goal is to continue the success of their live performances as wel as their latest release!

The party is over but it was a blast last Friday at the Club Azotod, De Meern, Holland. Azotod was fully packed and the crowd was really fucking amazing! We would like to thank all our fans and friends who came to watch our show ! It was a pleasure to play the whole FEAR album live, as well as our classics "Speed Of Samurai", "Snow And Fire", "Black Sun" and "Darkness At Time's Edge"! The tour with lizzy Borden has ended. 5700 km in 14 days, 10 shows in the following countries: Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and Holland.
The shows went great and were a blast. Large and smaller venues were packed with Lizzy and MARTYR fans and though we were "only" the support act for Lizzy we blew the fans away everywhere! Playing with Lizzy Borden was an honour for us, and the guys and Lizzy girl were great for us. There was a great atmosphere and we did a lot of partying together (with a lot of Jãgermeister, Vodka, Red Label (Chris!) and ofcourse the local beers).

Martyr will release a new album on February 20 via Rusty Cage Records, with a CD release party set to take place at Azotod in De Meern, Holland. Entitled "Fear The Universe", the set will consist of two albums — five new tracks on a CD called "Fear", and a re-release of the classic 1985 EP "For The Universe".

Last saturday we did a great show at the Taken by Force festival in Vroomshoop. It was a sold out concert. The crowd was filled with fans who didn't stop ´headbanging´ till we reached the last notes. Thanks to all the ´Heavy Metal Maniacs´. Pics and Video will be added soon. So stay tuned!

On Oct 4th we played Uelsen - Germany with German rockers Custard. It was a good show although unfortunately there were not that many people at the Cat Rock Club. New song Take Me Home has been added to the set list and went down well! So, all you MARTYR fans out there, join us at the Taken By Force festival in Vroomshoop next week,

MARTYR recordings finished for the re-release of the FTU album. All 5 tracks are mixed and mastered and will be delivered at Rusty Cage Records asap!!

All songs are now completely recorded and will be mixed next weekend by Jack Nobelen at Jack's Place. The 5 songs are called: Fear, Eaten ALive, Different Kind Of Rain, I Am The Most Evil and Take Me Home. Further appointments are made with Rusty Cage Records to start working on the art work for the upcoming album.

Rop went down to the studio to record the vocal parts for our new song (no 4) now titled: I am the most evil!! 1 more song to record vocals and solo guitars and it is finally up to mixing all the 5 new tracks and handover them to Rusty Cage!!

Just finished playing Occultfest 2008 and it was a blast! For the 1st time we played 2 new songs live: "Fear" and "Eaten Alive"! It went down very well!! Thanx to all the fans, organisation and crew at occultfest 2008!

All 3 new tracks for the album are recorded and are now complete. Songtitles are: ´Fear´, ´Different Kind Of Rain´ and ´Eaten Alive´. 2 new songs will be added to the material and are currently written. Probably the new recordings will continue in August.

One track completed!!! ´Eaten Alive´ has now been totally recorded. This week we'll do some more vocal tracks and ofcourse continue to write more new material to record during the summer. Expect the re-release of ´For the Universe´ in Atumn! Stay Tuned!

Last weekend we entered the recording studio in Meerle, Belgium to record our brand new 4 tracks to release on the ´For the Universe´ re-release as bonus tracks. The recordings of 3 tracks went very well, next week we will hit the studio again to record more guitar parts, solo´s , twin solo´s and vocals.
2 titles are yet confirmed: ´Eaten Alive´ and ´Fear´. But there is still a 4th song to be written so we are not done yet. But we can promise you: the songs will be fucking great!! So stay tuned!!

The title of our 1st new song will be ´Eaten Alive´. 2 other songs are almost ready. 4th song to be written at this stage. Studio recordings will be starting in april. Release after summer, probably september.

Yesterday we played DYNAMO - Eindhoven again. It has been about more than 20 years ago since we last played there during our Darkness At Time's Edge tour (1986) in the Benelux. This time we played at the ´Musketeers Of Metal Fest´ along with other great bands like Double Diamond (Belgium) and Conquest Of Steel (UK). Ofcourse the MARTYR show was announced as another reunion gig. It was a great show, and the DYNAMO was filled with enthusiastic metal maniacs (but isn't it allways?)! We played our classics again, unfortunately we could not play new songs yet. During the encore ´Lies´, our very first song ever written 25 years or so ago, the stage was crowded with fans! Thanx to all at DYNAMO, all the other bands and Emillio!!

Sorry for the delay but ofcourse there's some more MARTYR news. First of all we are doing 2 more shows: Tilburg - Little Devil on March 14th and Eindhoven - Dynamo (HELLYEAH !!) on March 22nd. Little Devil we'll be playing with Hooded Priest on Patchman's Party. Chances are that we will be playing at least 1 new MARTYR song!!! Dynamo we will be playing at the Musketeers of Metal fest. Happy New Year from all of us !! Tired but happy we arrived back from the Frontline Gent (B) to party at New Years Eve. Gent was great and as usual the crowd loved our (short) set with classic tracks as: Lies, Snow & Fire, Invisible Touch, Speed of Samurai, Black Sun, English Forces and Darkness at Time's Edge. The stage was a little small but the show was filled with energy! I did not see much of the other bands unfortunately. A lot of Belgian beer ofcourse was due to that fact ! After the show we did some more Jupiler, Palm, Cristal, Westmalle and so on...so you can imagine we really had a good time out there in Belgium. Lots of thanx to The Frontline crew, Emillio, the musketeer of death and Imperious Rex! Pics will be online soon!

Been a while since our last news update ! Anyway : a rockin' XMASS to you all. Currently we are rehearsing for the next upcoming gig in Gent. Furthermore more shows are planned. We have written 2 new songs , yet untitled. Won't play them live yet, because rearrangements will probably make them "grow"a little more.

After a long drive Rop, Marcel and Rick arrived at the studio in Emmer Compascuum (where the hell is that??) for the 2 hour MARTYR special and interview with Moonrock Radio. We had a lot of fun with doin' the interview and were amazed about the knowledge of Alcidos about MARTYR (he fucking new every detail about the band !!) We would like to thank all at Moonrock and especially Alcidos for the hospitality!!
